Changes and more photos of course!

If you’re a regular on my blog, you’ve probably noticed I’ve recently made a few changes! There’s been an addition here, a little subtraction there, and there will probably be a few more changes along the way.  Why?   I figure change is always good…or is it never good? Well, I’m hoping it’s good!  =)

Anyway,  I finally cleared the house of  everything Christmas this past weekend.  Yay!!!… for life moving in the right direction! =)

So before too much more changes take place and since I did use the word Christmas on this post, I thought I’d sneak in a few more photos from that December holiday shoot I shared with you on the post “A Christmas Extension”.

The shoot and kids were just so much fun I’d hate to miss sharing these with you…

Bye, bye Christmas!

Until next time…

A Christmas Extension

For some, Christmas has come and gone. I am fully aware that there are many who have already packed up the holiday ornaments soon after December 25th in preparations for the new year. I’m not so inclined to put the decorations away yet; in part because it wasn’t until a week and a half before Christmas that I finally got our tree up this year.  Anyway, our Christmas decorations are only a few of the pretty and tidy things I have around the house right now! Since going on vacation right after Christmas and having been back for only a couple of days, our house is currently under clean up from the annual tornado that hits our home sometime during the holidays.  And if you’ve already read my previous post, you know I’m working on  “BEING” in the moment and so I’m trying very hard not to succumb to the pressures I personally feel with having to get myself in some kind of order for the new year and that order points to having to get the Christmas decorations down and put away!

I know I’m not the only one who feels this pressure around this time of year.  Am I? My husband said to me earlier today, “We have to take the Christmas tree down today!” to which I immediately but calmly replied, “Why?”. He reminds me it’s January. January? What made January 1st (or even December 31st) as the day Christmas officially ends?

I just have to ask…Why are we so quick to put away the decorations? I’m sure there’s a possible number of reasons for the need to get the decorations out of the house.  Is it crazy to want to have the decorations up just for a little bit longer?

If you are one of those who’s already put the decorations away I hope this doesn’t bother you at all! I wish my life would allow for such organization at the moment!  There’s definitely nothing wrong with having your decorations put away.  I’m just wanting to say that there’s nothing wrong with having decorations up past January 1st ( probably an attempt at convincing myself that it’s okay that I have nothing put away).

So I’ve decided to allow myself a little Christmas extension.  I’ll eventually get those decorations down but for now, they’re still up in my house. And who knows…it may actually be a week or two before I can get them down. But I’ll get them down.  I am absolutely sure I’ll have all my decorations down before Valentines day! ;) Now if you happen to come over to my house next month and see cupid along side decorations on a tree…PLEASE help this girl out! lol! =)

Finally, on the topic of Christmas, here are a few photos from the north pole (a fun Christmas session I did in December)! =)

I’ll be sharing more from this session in the next post so check back soon!

My weekend to breathe and recharge…

This past Friday, I headed to the mountains with some girlfriends and left the kids with the hubby for a couple of days. It was an amazing time!  I can’t remember the last time I’ve been away to have some personal me time.  I love my husband, my kids and my life…but life definitely gets busy and finding time to breathe and recharge during my day to day life is difficult.  It was good to finally get away for a little while and remember that I’m not only a wife and mom but yes…a woman..with certain passions and desires.  I loved getting to spend time with friends and being reminded that my life (I am) more than an organized house, folded up and put away laundry, and a menu of the day.  Times like these…times away… help me to capture peace and become even more thankful and joyful.  I am so grateful for times to breathe and recharge!

Here are a few pictures from the house we rented up in the mountains.

Sunrise through the kitchen window…

Out on the deck…

What do you do to breathe and recharge and how often you get to do it?  Please do share.  I’d love to know.

Until next time…

My life…

As you may have noticed, my post have recently been fewer and far between.  Life’s been pretty busy and with a pretty busy schedule I couldn’t do any recent photo sessions.  I have some sessions scheduled in the next week or so and look forward to sharing new pictures with you but in the meantime, I thought it would be nice to share with you what’s been going on with me recently.

My brother came into town visiting from California.

He’s such an awesome brother and uncle! My kids LOVE him so much.  I wish he lived closer. The kids and I have been trying to persuade him to move to Atlanta. Of course, it’s a bit of a hard sell for someone living in sunny San Diego.  But it doesn’t hurt to try right? So our methods of persuasion… food! My brother laughs because every time he visits, our main activities always surround food. Well, they do say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. So we’ve definitely been working that angle! =) Talking about food, i’ve got to share about these special treats!

Here are some of the best if not THE BEST doughnuts in Atlanta! Sublime doughnuts…YUMMO!!!!!

Imagine flavors like Nestle Crunch, Nutella, Red Velvet, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, Oreo…man, these are simply amazing! You won’t be disappointed with this place! If you haven’t had a chance to eat these heavenly delights, you’re missing out.  This wonderful place is located right near my husband’s Alma mater, Georgia Tech! Warning: These are not cheap doughnuts but OHH SOO WORTH IT!

So let me get back to what else has been going on…

My son turned 4…

My daughter had her ballet recital…

Mother’s Day…

which included a great lunch and visit to the mountains…

and walk around Amicolola Falls! So beautiful!

Sights like this just bring an immediate peace to your soul!

So these were just a few of the things that had been occupying my time recently besides the normal day to day life of a wife and mom.

Thanks for reading!

Until next time…

Everyday Muse with an interesting note…MagCloud

Though it’s been a few days since my last post,  I’ve been logging in and working on it every couple of days.  For those that have visited my blog before, you’ll notice I’ve made some changes.  I changed my site’s theme to something simpler and rather than create a separate website, I decided to put these together in a concerted effort…to help you get to know me better, give you a glimpse of my work, save myself some money (important I think since i’m just starting out in this photography & design adventure), as well as document the progression of my photography & design. I’m feeling my way through this whole thing and hope you find something in here that is inspirational, helpful or at the very least interesting enough to finish reading.

So something I hope you find interesting from one of my regular internet surfs…

Have you been dreaming of creating your own magazine? Do you already have a name for it, the layout, your readers and the kinds of photos you’d love to use? Well, here’s a perfect site for you! MAGCLOUD!

MagCloud allows anyone to start a new, real printed magazine at little cost.  It’s print on-demand…very cool! Check it out here… http://magcloud.com/

The first of many…my everyday muses.

So this post isn’t about photography or design.  I’m not sure if i’ve mentioned this somewhere in my blog or not…I think I have..but anyway, i’m a mom.  So as a mom, my life isn’t always about photography or design. Actually, it’s probably less of that and more of me just being a mom.  I’m a mom to 2 kids. My first one is about to start kindergarten in the fall and my second one is just following right behind her. I probably think about being a mom most because i’m a mom 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, morning noon and night.  Yes…I am a wife too but the wife cap comes off somewhat when my husband goes off to work. So since my life isn’t all photography and design, i’m creating this category i’m calling my “Everyday Muses” to help me just share what this photographer/designer woman thinks about when i’m not taking photos or designing something for friends.

So here’s what’s on my mind.   I’m trying to figure out the balance between wife, mom, sister, friend, daughter, neighbor, and probably a handful more things I probably am to someone out there.  As a Christian woman, I think I know what my life should be like at my stage in life.  In a nutshell…A woman with a life centered around Christ, then her husband, kids, then others and loving it.

But having that life is easier said and thought of than done.  This is the desire of my heart.

To help me get there, I was reading a book on how to raise toddlers/kids.  Crazy how i’ll soon have one toddler moving up to being a…”kid”. Is that right? She isn’t a teen or preteen yet…oh please not yet! Hmmm…is there a category for where she’ll be at? Anyway, in the book I was reading, the writer says how as women we need friends. God is our perfect friend. Our husband should be our best friend but as she writes…”he (our husband) can only handle so many chick flicks, in-depth relationship psychoanalyses and fashion questions!”  I thought this was so funny and true! lol! So as wife and mom, we also need friends. As I write this i’m thinking why did I start writing about this book I was reading besides that it is a good book and helping me to have some spiritual inspirations in my life.  I think where I was going was that… I don’t have this life figured out. I’m trying to figure it out and enjoy it at the same time.  I was inspired by the writer of this book to make me think of my idea of the perfect friend and how truly God does and is the only one who can fit all my expectations/needs/wants of a perfect friend. I’m hoping to have him not only be the “center of my life” but my perfect friend. =)

If you’re wondering about this book i’m reading, here it is…
